I feel like we’ve been talking about it since right after Labor Day, but it is now officially and finally fall. And although pumpkin spice lattes are really not my thing, I do appreciate all the other things about fall - cooler temperatures, cozy clothes, changing leaves, crisp smells in the air, delicious locally grown apples. And as with every season, I’m sharing my fall wish list, particularly for things that get me out of the house!
Apple Picking: I put this on my list every single year, and every year I don’t do this. I’ve only been apple picking once in my life, and I had a blast. And to be honest, a cold crisp apple is my favorite fruit, so I’m not sure why I haven’t done it again. But THIS is the year. Hopefully.
Go on a Fall Hike: Last year I went to The Holden Arboretum with friends for a fall hike with the pretty leaves, and it was so much fun that I want to do it again this year. It also includes the Canopy Walk which is up in the treetops and is an absolutely beautiful way to experience the changing leaves and nature. There’s also a tiny secret fairy garden in the park (there may be more than one) that’s such a treasure to find!
Attend a clam bake: This is my favorite Northeast Ohio tradition each year. One year we tried to do this at home, but honestly it’s so much work that it’s easier and more pleasant to just participate at one of many area restaurants that host them. Last year we went to Don’s Lighthouse and discovered their Sunday Mussels deal ($2.50 for a dozen mussels each Sunday at the bar) and then proceeded to head over there several Sundays in a row. I’m sure we will be back there again for at least one meal, but I’m looking forward to trying at least one new clam bake this year.
Attend my second yoga retreat: This was one of my big goals for 2019, and while I got a day retreat under my belt already this Spring, I’m excited to attend my first retreat with a friend. This time around I’m trying out the RemembHER Retreat - of course I will report back with my thoughts after.
Celebrate Nick’s 40th Birthday!! I am so excited to celebrate Nick this fall as he enters a new decade. I’m getting started with party planning and I’m super excited to plan a special day for him.
Work on my handstand: My goal is to complete an unassisted hand stand by the time I turn 40 next summer. It’s a super achievable goal, if I get my act together and really start working toward it this fall. No time like the present.
So that’s really it - a list of fun, highly achievable goals for this fall! What’s on your wish list this fall? Drop me a line in the comments!
