Friday Five 10.4.2019

I love apple pie. It’s probably my favorite dessert, second only to creme brulee. I’m very specific about how I like my pie - it has to be warm with vanilla ice cream. No ice cream? Then I’m not interested. For someone who loves apple pie as much as I do, I do NOT like making it at all. Maybe if I buy premade crust, but even then, making it sucks the joy out of eating it for me.

So earlier this week, I asked my insta-friends for the recommendation for the best places to buy apple pie in Northeast Ohio, and here are their ranked recommendations, from most recommended to least.

  1. Patterson Fruit Farms: This one was the clear winner with several recommendations. This is probably the most tempting because not only could I get pie, but I could also cross off one of my fall wish list items at the same time.

  2. Miles Farmers Market: Fresh produce, wine and pie. What more could one want?

  3. Lucy’s Sweet Surrender: This one does national delivery!!!

  4. Larder: Larder was named a 2019 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best New Restaurant so I’m pretty sure their pie is bomb, even if I haven’t tried it yet.

  5. Mama Joe Homestyle Pies: I’ve had these before but completely forgot because it’s been so long. This is very good pie, and if you don’t want to drive out to Amherst, you can also get it at Heinen’s.

That’s it for today’s Friday Five! I look forward to enjoying some pie this weekend, a la mode obviously!!
