My Summer Wish List for 2019

I am so excited for this summer especially since I’m on sabbatical and have time to plan the best summer ever! I looked at last year’s summer wish list, and I hate to admit that I didn’t get to nearly enough of the things that I wanted to. As usual, life got away from me and that was that. This year I have the time to be better about it, and so without further ado, here’s my wishlist for the summer!

Take a sunset picnic on the beach: I love picnics. I think it’s the whole eating outside on the floor that really appeals to me, and this year I really want to do an evening picnic on the beach with Nick and take down blankets and a chic picnic basket and just enjoy the lake and each other’s company.

Ride my bike: I rode my super chic bike (with adorable wicker basket) a grand total of once last summer. Now that the weather is finally getting nicer, I’m pulling out the bike again. I’m going to start with easy rides up to the grocery store to get comfortable riding on the street, and hopefully soon enough I will be riding all over the place!!

Go on a hike: Ok I really like the idea of this but have yet to execute on this in real life. I’ve had several friends offer to go with me, but honestly the weather has been so garbage on the weekends so far that this just hasn’t happened. Yet. It happens this summer.

Continue to practice photography: I recently took a photography class and learned how to really use the manual settings on my camera. I want to get really good at it, and the only way to get better is practice, practice, practice. I’m better at taking pictures of things rather than people, so I’m recruiting friends to do practice photo shoots.

I took some photos at a party hosted by my friends at Studio Chartreuse last week.

Finish up all the small business education courses I’ve saved over the past year: I’ve been working on this goal (see prior mentioned photography class) so this is in progress, but I’ve saved so many different courses on things like SEO, pitching brands, etc. and it’s time I finally sit through the courses and put them to use. So far I’ve been learning a lot and I’m looking forward to bring all these changes to Bombay Taxi over the next several months. I’m really excited about where Bombay Taxi is heading, both with the blog and the jewelry, so stay tuned for more!

Continue with my yoga and meditation practice: I've been doing a really good job staying consistent with my meditation practice and I can honestly say it has changed my life. A year ago, I was in a very frustrated, negative place, and it took about 6 months of daily meditation for me to see a change in my mindset. With all the unexpected change that’s happened to me this year, I can honestly say that meditation has helped me take it all in stride. I have a renewed focus and passion around what I want to do next with my career, and meditation gave me the space to see my path clearly. I’ve been practicing yoga more regularly as well, but I want to elevate this to a daily practice, even if it’s just 5 sun salutations to start off the day, so I plan to use this whole summer to build out my new habit.

So that’s it really - my summer bucket list. Keep an eye out on Instagram to follow along as I accomplish these wish list items, and please share something from your wish list either in the comments or on Instagram!
