Sometimes shopping your own closet can be as much fun as spending money. Here are 5 things I learned shopping my own closet.
A few weeks ago, I stopped in at Stella & Shay, a recently opened beauty bar in Lakewood. The space is absolutely gorgeous and charming, and they provide hair and nail services, including a really nice array of beauty products available for purchase. I decided to get a Smith & Cult manicure - if you're not familiar with the line, it wears like a gel, but comes off like a regular polish, and best of all is 8-free!
Stella & Shay is a little different from your standard strip mall nail offering. For one, they don't do acrylic nails at all, so there's no chemical dust or smell in the air. Second, their equipment is higher end, and doesn't feel like plastic - this includes their pedicure foot baths which are porcelain. Third, they use high end nail products, and you can even include a designer nail color (think DIOR) for an additional fee. And most important to me, they take online appointments. All of these features mean that a Stella & Shay manicure is slightly more expensive than a strip mall manicure, but they offer plenty of customization options to meet your budget.
I didn't try any of their hair services (I'm loyal to my longtime stylist and friend, Carolina, at Tease) but judging from their retail product line, I'm going to guess that it is similarly well appointed.
Stella & Shay is a female-owned small business, and one that is incredibly supportive of other female entrepreneurs! They are so supportive that they've invited Bombay Taxi to be a part of their Small Business Saturday Pop Up! Please check out the details below, and I hope you will come join me and a number of other female entrepreneurs at what promises to be a fabulous event!
Bombay Taxi will be offering exclusive discounts (make sure you are following us on Instagram since we will be posting all our exclusive online discounts there) and of course, loads of new products like the JAYA bracelet and ILEANA earrings, both of which are under $50 and make beautiful gifts for the special women in your life.

Winter always seems to be the season of engagements, and this year has been no exception. With engagements come wedding planning, which can be fun or daunting, depending on how you look at it. Nick and I have been married for almost 12 years (we married young) and weddings have changed a lot over this time. For one, there was no Pinterest, and certainly nowhere near as many wedding blogs, so finding ideas for a stylist wedding used to be quite the challenge. Lucky for all brides, this is no longer the case, and although the Internet is a wonderful virtual world, sometimes you really want to see, feel, and touch product first hand, particularly if you're planning a particularly important day.
Enter, Boutique Bridal Bazaar: the event for chic Northeast Ohio brides seeking an equally chic wedding. This year, the event is on Sunday, January 17th from 2 pm to 6 pm. There will be all sorts of vendors in attendance: florists, DJs, caterers, dress designers, accessories, and of course, photographers. In fact, I'm attending this year just to check out the cool vendors so I have an idea of vendor style for my own non-wedding events in 2016!
You can find tickets here, OR, you can enter to win TWO TICKETS by leaving a comment letting me know you'd like to attend!! For an additional entry, you may also leave a comment on this photo on my Instagram! Winner will be announced on Thursday, January 14th!
isclosure: I was provided with one complimentary ticket to attend this event, and two tickets for the giveaway. As always, all opinions are my own! Thanks for continuing to support this blog so I may continue to create content to support local businesses!
There was so much great stuff on display-- from the adorable puppy centric gifts (for the new fur-parent) or artisan bitters (for the beverage aficionado), and charming hostess gifts (for all the spring parties), R/S has a little something for everyone. And, if you're looking to fill adult easter baskets, this is a perfect local boutique to turn to!
Nick: What time is the wedding tomorrow?
Me: Hang on let me check... I open up wedding website on my iPhone. CUE COLD SWEAT!!!!
Why, you might ask? Because we were in Chicago on the WRONG weekend!! *FACEPALM*
So there we were in Chicago; no hotel; no wedding. Thanks to some extremely efficient customer service from United, Nick and I were booked on the 5:30 pm flight back to Cleveland. But we had so much time to kill! So what did we do? We shopped, ate, and drank, and totally lived the baller lifestyle for the day!!
