Remember when I promised more Nick on the blog? We worked on this post together!
Going on dates is so much easier in the summer - the fact that you don’t have to worry about being cold or wet really makes for so many more options. Plus the lake and river aren’t frozen which is also helpful. But you know, all is not lost - there are still plenty of fun date nights to be had in the middle of winter.
Cleveland has some really cozy bars and restaurants, and some even have fireplaces!
Felice Urban Cafe: This is one of the most charming and cozy restaurants in Cleveland. I can’t remember if it has a fireplace, and I have been unable to confirm, but regardless, it is SUPER cozy in every season. (Thank you Charity for reminding me of this one)
Stone Mad Pub: Cute Irish bar that has a beautiful outdoor fireplace, and really cute bathrooms as an added bonus!
Il Rione Pizzeria: no fireplace but super warm chic interiors and killer negronis. And I’m obsessed with their pizza.
Market Avenue Wine Bar: super cozy space, grab the baked brie for an extra delicious treat to go with that bottle of wine.
Flight Cleveland: Not technically a restaurant, Flight has a great selection of carefully curated wine flights - so much fun to do some wine tastings and pair them with some delicious chocolate!
A couple of year ago, Nick planned a very special weekday date day for us, and one of the many stops included the Rockerfeller Park Greenhouse! It’s a very well maintained greenhouse, and such a fun way to spend a couple of hours!
If warm, plant-filled spaces sound like your ideal way to spend a winter’s day, you should also visit the Cleveland Botanical Garden and The Rainforest at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. If you not a freeze-baby/happen to have the appropriate clothing, a hike in Cuyahoga Valley National Park or Snowshoeing at The Holden Arboretum are fun too!! (Full disclosure: I have done neither of the last two because I am a freeze baby)
Dates at home:
Sometimes you just don’t want to leave the house. I totally get it. And if that’s the case, here are some fun date ideas for your own home!
Eat dinner by candlelight
Pile a whole bunch of pillows and blankets on the floor and make some fancy popcorn for movie night!
Get dressed up and make some fancy classic cocktails
Do your own wine or beer tasting
Try cooking cuisine from a country you want to visit together!
We hope you’re inspired by this list to go plan a fun date for Valentine’s Day or really any day of the week!
