Friday Five 1.9.2020: The Beauty Empties

I love doing roundups of my beauty empties because not only is it a great way for me to give you a complete review, but it also means that it’s time for me to try new products! So wins all around!! Let’s dive into the 5 products I just emptied.

Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm: This oil based cleansing balm is available at Target for under $20 as part of their clean beauty collection. The product smells like eucalyptus, which I like, and overall does a really good job as an oil based cleanser. The only downside is your hands get slippery (because of the oil) when you have to twist the jar shut, and for some reason I did notice rings of oil under the jar. Overall, I like the product but not the delivery - will probably not buy this again.

Versed Keep it Supple Body Oil: I like using body oils in the winter because my skin feels so thirsty with all the cold, dry air. This one is also available at Target for under $15. Like the cleansing balm, this is a clean, cruelty-free product. This is a very light oil spray that sinks into your skin without leaving a greasy residue. It smells nice too - a light fragrance that will not interfere with your perfume. I would absolutely buy this again.

GinZing Ultra Hydrating Energy Boosting Cream: I LOVE the bright, citrus scent of this cream - it claims to moisturize for 72 hours but honestly I didn’t test it because I was applying it every morning under my makeup, and every night after my very short and lazy beauty routine. It left my skin feeling soft and looking hydrated. This was my second time purchasing this product, and I would be open to buying it again (although i’m testing another product these days). This retails for $30 for 1.7 oz at Sephora, which isn’t bad at all for this clean beauty product.

Sephora brow builder: To be honest, this product pushed me over the edge to microblading my brows, so it’s safe to say I didn’t like this product. It was almost too liquid which meant it clumped and got all over the brush and my hands and my brows. I found that the only way I could make this work was to wipe off the excess each time, which seems like a waste of product. This retails at $14 at Sephora, but honestly, Boy Brow by Glossier is a far superior product. I would not buy this again.

Edible Beauty #3 exotic goddess serum: Another clean beauty product, this serum contains antioxidants, natural SPF, hyaluronic acid and other natural ingredients from Australia. At $57 for 1 oz I probably won’t buy this again - there are a lot of serums on the market that are just as effective at a more wallet-friendly price point.
