Since Bombay Taxi Boutique started generating revenue in 2016, we’ve donated 10% of revenue to various charities. You can see some of the charities we’ve supported in the past here.
Usually these charities change quarterly, but this year I’ve decided to focus on one charity for the entirety of 2021 so as to make the maximum possible impact.
And the charity I’ve chosen for 2021 is: Neighborhood Pets!!
I’ve known about Neighborhood Pets for sometime now and have been really impressed with their work, particularly over the last year. Their mission is to “Keep families together, healthy and happy” and they do this by providing free or low cost pet care resources to pet owners experiencing financial hardship. Neighborhoods Pets was created on the philosophy of Equity for all, and view the lack of affordable pet resources as a social justice issue.
Over 60% of the residents of the City of Cleveland, Ohio live in or near poverty. Cleveland is the poorest major city in the US with a population of over 250,000 residents. Many Cleveland residents do not have close access to vet clinics or pet supply stores, or have access to reliable transportation in which they can bring their pet(s). Neighborhood Pets is centrally located in the Slavic Village community of Cleveland, and is within walking distance of the RTA bus line.
By providing affordable and accessible basic wellness care, free spay/neuter and other resources (including a pet food bank) Neighborhood Pets has become a trusted, resource for Cleveland-area pet owners. The positive relationships they have established with their community helps to keep pets in their homes. Services are available to any pet owner who resides in Cleveland or East Cleveland that is experiencing financial hardship.
