5 Things I'm Looking Forward to in June

Wow, it’s been a REALLY long time since I’ve done one of these, but now that time has meaning again, and because I now have PLANS, it’s time to pick these back up.

  1. This weekend I’m doing something that’s way outside my comfort zone and heading to the Burton Antiques Market with my friend Charity. She’s an expert thrifter and has been to this show several times, so she’s going to be my thrift godmother on this trip. I’m usually terrible at thrifting - I tend to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things to sift through and give up within the first 20 minutes. On my list for this trip: vases, planters, and vintage apothecary jars to store candy.

  2. I’ve been really conscious about self-care over the past year and have been scheduling monthly massages at my favorite spa, Sacred Hour. These have become increasingly relevant since I got my Peloton in March and I’m really looking forward to an hour of pure relaxation.

  3. I love peaches, and every time I see people picking up peaches from the Peach Truck, I have FOMO. But no longer!! I finally signed up to pick up my very own peaches this month! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them other than eating them and freezing them, so if you have ideas, please share!

  4. Nick and I typically take at least one kayaking outing each summer, and I’m super excited to get back on the water again. We’re lucky to have several options for kayaking in Cleveland - last year we used 41N Kayak Adventures which is a little west of Cleveland. We’ve previously also used Great Lakes Watersports, which is more of an urban kayaking experience on the river or out on the lake downtown. Great Lakes Watersports was acquired by a new owner fo the 2021 season, and is now a Black-owned business!!

  5. I’ve been really enjoying getting back into outdoor yoga this year, and I’ve attended my friend Alicia Hansen’s classes at both Lakewood Truck Park and at Flight Cleveland. Check out both these events that occur weekly or bi-weekly. If you’re inclined to join a bigger outdoor yoga event, check out the 2nd annual Cleveland Yoga Festival.
