A little home makeover

Like everyone else, we’re spending a LOT of time at home. And like a lot of people, we’re diverting vacation funds into our home. We’ve been spending a lot of time on our front porch and honestly it’s been keeping us sane by giving us that feeling of being outside while staying at home. Our front porch needed some TLC, and we took the opportunity to change up the look and feel of the entrance to our home.

We used all our existing furniture and accessories, and made a few changes:

  1. We re-painted our front porch using Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray SW7029 on the ceiling and Sherwin Williams Inkwell SW 6992 on the floor and the stairs, and basic white for the trim.

  2. Our orange Adirondack chairs were painted in Inkwell

  3. We added in two large planters from HC Companies (gifted)

I absolutely LOVE flowers, and I’ve always wanted to have the type of front porch arrangement where I could have the front of my house flanked with seasonal flowers. My favorite part of my HC Companies Cascade Tall Square Planters is that while I can put in soil and plant flowers in them directly, I can also just drop in seasonal baskets - it’s a no-mess, no-fuss solution to get the look I want without having to literally get my hands dirty.

Are you ready for some pictures?

This was the old look - unfortunately I don’t know these colors, but the floor and door were forest green and the ceiling was a mint green.

The little (or not so little) details: the lantern is old from World Market, and the planter is the HC Companies Cascade Tall Square planter in white.

The project was completed this past week, and since then we’ve really enjoyed spending our time on our front porch. We usually begin the day with a cup of coffee on the front porch, and typically end up back outside in the evening.

Overall, we’re really happy with how this project turned out, and I expect we will be spending even more time outside than we were previously!
