5 Fun Facts about Nick Faehnle

Earlier this year I realized that even though I’ve mentioned Nick so many times on this blog over the years, many of you don’t know anything about him unless you know us in real life! You’re going to see a lot more of him on the blog this year, and we’re working on some collaborative projects together, so there’s no time like the present for an introduction!

A little background: Nick grew up in Chardon, Ohio. We met in our final semester at Miami University, started a long distance relationship when he graduated and I stayed for grad school, and we’ve been married for nearly 15 years. Yes, we were babies when we got married. Nick is a licensed architect - he works on both architecture and interior design, and most of his projects are outside Cleveland (for now anyway). He’s a passionate Cleveland advocate, and convinced me of Cleveland’s coolness way before we had many of the cool amenities we have today (practically none of our favorite restaurants existed back then, Tremont was a bit sketchy, and the Art Museum was under renovation).

And while these aforementioned facts are interesting, here are some fun facts about Nick.

Nick has had a variety of jobs in his life. He’s been a DJ, a bartender, a bouncer, a ski instructor, a garbage man, and worked retail at both abercrombie and the gap! He’s highly adaptable.

Nick was a breakdancer - good enough to be on BET and MTV Spring Break (remember that show?!)!! While he doesn’t do floor spins* anymore (*not a technical term), he’s still an excellent dancer.

He rescued a boxer from a construction site in college, fostered and re-homed him, and that’s part of the reason we now have three rescue boxers at home!

Nick lived in Italy for an extended period twice in his life - once as an undergrad, and later as a grad student. He was mistaken as a male model for Valentino during his first stint in Italy

Nick’s favorite literary character is Sherlock Holmes. His favorite adaption (besides the books) is the BBC version of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (which is also my favorite- see? We’re perfect for each other).

I hope you’ve enjoyed this profile on Nick - he is my absolute favorite person in the whole world and has always been incredibly supportive of all my projects. I can’t wait to show you all the fun we have coming up!
