I first heard about Designer Dress Days last year, when my friend Charity posted a magnificent haul of outfits from her visit to this annual event. I like the idea of vintage shopping, but don’t do well at thrift stores because the sheer volume of mediocre stuff overwhelms me and I don’t have the patience to sift through to search for the really good stuff. So when the team behind Designer Dress Days reached out this year for a collaboration, I was immediately VERY interested - curated designer clothing, sorted out? SIGN ME UP!!!!
This stylist event, hosted by the National Council of Jewish Women Cleveland (NCJW), has been a Cleveland landmark event for 50 years, and is the institution’s biggest annual fundraiser. Over 250 volunteers bring this event to life each year. The dollars raised are used to fund NCJW’s many programs, including those under its social justice initiative: resources for children in foster care and young adults aging out of the foster care program, fighting human trafficking, women’s health and reproductive justice, among several others.
So needless to say, while you drool over all the designer goodies (and there a LOT of them), the money you pay to buy them is going straight back to the Cleveland community, providing resources for the people who truly need them!
So what can you expect from Designer Dress Days? This is a four day event, with the first day open for VIP’s. Don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything special to become a VIP - just $20 gets you that designation. I’ve been told that people start lining up well in advance, some as early as 4 am, although the doors don’t open until 10 am. Why are they lining up so early? Because what’s inside is THAT good. From classic design houses like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Chanel, Ferragamo, Armani, to more contemporary Rag & Bone, Alice + Olivia, Kate Spade and so so many others. Coats, jackets, regular clothing, bags, furs, dresses — take your pick of all the fabulous goodies.
Also, for the first time this year Designer Dress Days will have a VIP/Celeb Rack where you can shop the closets of some of your favorite local celebrities and influencers. I donated 3 bags as my contribution to this event, including one super fun workout bag by Lululemon that has long been discontinued. Keep an eye out for those - they will have tags that show you who pre-owned this collection of pieces.

This was from the blogger preview day I attended in September - there was a gorgeous red vintage Chanel coat that was so beautiful, but sadly not in my size. I can’t remember the brand on this blazer, but it was so soft and so cute!
So, if you’re in Cleveland on October 25th, or the 27th- 29th, you need to get yourself over to this event. Obviously the 25th is the best day to get there (and you will have to pay $20 to get in on that day) but there’s seriously so much stuff that you should be fine even if you go on the regular days. Please note that this event is NOT open on Saturday, October 26th.

This year’s event is at the Mandel Jewish Community Center, 26001 S. Woodland Road, in Beachwood, Ohio.
