I had an Aura reading and here's what it was like

I’ve mentioned this several times before - I have a healthy respect for all things woo. As scientific and logical as I am, I leave enough room for magic and mysticism to believe it exists and that it offers opportunities for reflection and guidance. It’s part of the reason I’m so obsessed with astrology. I’ve wanted to have an aura reading for a long time, but had not found any interesting ones in Cleveland. So when I heard that the famous Eileen Lee of AURA AURA was coming to Cleveland, I couldn’t sign up fast enough!!

I went into the session with very little research - all I knew is that your aura shows up in different colors that represent different things. Being a fire sign astrologically (Leo, duh) I assumed that my colors would be red, orange, pink, yellow - all colors that I associate with myself (and Bombay Taxi’s colors are pink and orange and gold).

So when the day arrived, I showed up at Pop Life studio in time for my appointment. I was ushered into the aura igloo, a specially created tent where the aura photographs are taken.

Once inside, I sat on a stool, and placed my hands on the aura reading machine. Eileen fixed my hair for the picture, I smiled into the camera (although you don’t have to look at the camera if you don’t want to) and 10 seconds later I was back outside waiting for the picture to develop.

Remember how I mentioned the colors I thought I would see in my aura? WELL I WAS DEAD WRONG!!

Eileen gave me my reading based on the colors that showed up.

The bright green on my right side (your left) represents my most immediate past. Green, the color of the heart chakra, represents personal growth, healing and creativity. If you’ve been reading my blog this year, then you know I’ve been doing a lot of work around my own personal growth, particularly since I left my full time career in May. I’ve also found my creative groove, which you may have noticed in my recent publishing schedule of three posts each week.

There’s also a lot of blue in my reading, the color of the throat chakra, which represents communication and self expression. People with blue in their aura are believed to be highly intuitive, trusting their feelings to make decisions. I agree with this assessment for myself - when it comes to important decisions, I give significant weight to my gut, sometimes in defiance of data. And those are the times when situations have worked out best for me. Every time I ignore my gut, I end up regretting it.

Between the transition of green and blue in my aura is a whole lot of turquoise, which represents a highly energized personality that influences others. As a blogger, this assessment made me laugh out loud. People with turquoise in their aura are consummate multi-taskers, another trait that I fully embody.

There’s also a white orb in my aura, which represents guide energies. I didn’t quite know what to make of that - I didn’t know if it meant guide energies from family members who have passed away (three out of four of my grandparents are no longer here) or if that was more closely tied with my intuition guiding me through this time.

There was one area of caution - if you notice, the left side of my body (your right) is very dark and looks almost black. This side of my body represents my immediate future and the darkness represents energy depletion. Eileen advised that I take it easy and stop trying to do all the things so I can recharge my aura for my future

Our aura colors can (and do) change with our life stories, emotions and situations.

All in all, the reading was shockingly accurate and insightful for where I am in my life right now. I am so excited to do it again in a few months to see how my aura has changed!!
