3 Bold Fashion Trends You Should Expect to see in 2020

I’m not a trend forecaster, but I do read a lot of magazines and there have been some trends that have shown up over and over again suggesting that they will be something we should all expect to see more of in 2020.

Florals

These are not a new trend by any means, but what’s different this year is that the prints are bigger, bolder and more colorful.

How to wear it: Well, if you already have florals in your closet, wear them. If you have a floral top or floral skirt, the 2020 way to wear them is paired with a jewel tone.

Neon

This one was honestly a bit of a surprise, and I thought it was a one-off but then I saw the same trend twice in a row, and in stores, and that usually means it’s sticking around for a while. While 2020 neons include the traditional neons we all know and love from the 80s, they also include specifically non-neon colors like yellow.

How to wear it: I like to pair my neons with a neutral, preferably white. But if the thought of a dress or a top is way too much for you, you can adopt this trend in other, smaller ways by picking a pair of shoes or jewelry - something small that lets you wear the trend in your own way.

While this yellow sweater isn’t exactly neon, you can see how it’s represented in the “neon” spread in InStyle. If bright color is more your vibe, check out our color pop jewelry for a little peek of the trend without a full commitment.

Golden necks:

I’ve seen this look two ways: with one chunky gold necklace, or with several stacked necklaces to create that statement look. You can’t go wrong with either way so long as you have some gorgeous gold at your throat.

My friend Shannon of Stash Style has been wearing this look for a few years - stacked necklaces in gold to create a statement look. The Herringbone necklace trend (the top two in Shannon’s stack) is very prevalent right now. Real gold can get quite …

My friend Shannon of Stash Style has been wearing this look for a few years - stacked necklaces in gold to create a statement look. The Herringbone necklace trend (the top two in Shannon’s stack) is very prevalent right now. Real gold can get quite expensive (several hundred to thousands of dollars) and regular brass can turn your skin green (don’t worry it’s harmless and will go away in an hour or so once you take it off), so I like gold plated silver as a more cost effective option.

I bought a gold plated silver herringbone necklace for under $20 on Amazon last summer, and it has held up exceptionally well, even considering I wear it in the shower, which you are absolutely not supposed to do.

I’m definitely going to adopt all three trends in 2020 mainly because I already have several pieces in my closet or in the Bombay Taxi Boutique shop already, but also because I absolutely LOVE color, and these trends just call out to embrace it!!
