Friday Five 4.10.2020: Coffee beans

Wow I just looked back and realized I haven’t written one of these since my first Friday under social distancing when I talked about the benefits of at-home yoga. But I’m back, and I have a few of these lined up, so I will keep these going.

Nick and I bought a grind and brew coffee maker earlier this year and we’ve been using it every single day since mid-March. And until this week, we had been buying our coffee from the bulk bin at our local grocery store/Whole Foods, which was fine… until I finally received my delivery of really good coffee beans this week. What a game changer. I posted about it in my stories, and my friend Kimi Corrigan, self described coffee snob, started chatting about quality coffee beans. So today, with Kimi’s help, I’m sharing 5 spots to grab really great coffee beans for your at-home coffee adventures.

  1. Pour Cleveland: This is what I bought this week that not only changed how I will consume coffee moving forward but also started the conversation with Kimi. Pour has its very own roastery in Cleveland and provide shipping all across the country. I bought these beans, but you can also subscribe to their monthly coffee subscription for 2 bags of coffee from two international specialty coffee roasters.

  2. Troubador Coffee: Their sister company La Taza Rica is in my neighborhood but I didn’t have the opportunity to try them before they shut down under the state order. You can order their vast variety of ethically sourced direct trade coffee beans via their website - they ship nationally.

  3. Six Shooter Coffee: I love their coffee shop in Collinwood, but I hadn’t realized that they also ship coffee beans. National shipping available.

  4. Mad Cap Coffee: They’re based out of Grand Rapids Michigan, and although I’ve never tried their coffee, Kimi swears by them. National shipping available.

  5. Duck Rabbit Coffee: Duck Rabbit has such a cute coffee shop in Cleveland - I’ve had a photoshoot and a job interview here. They buy a lot of their beans directly from the coffee farmers, paying them even more than fair trade prices. And their coffee is absolutely delicious, and they ship nationally.

Huge thanks to Kimi for her help creating this post! If you’re stocking or restocking beans, I hope you will consider some of these small business specialty roasters. And maybe some day when this is over, I will see you at a coffee shop!!

Thanks Kimi!!!!

Thanks Kimi!!!!
