Coronavirus got you asking "What is a bra"? Yeah, me too!

I distinctly remember being in my very early 20s and saying “I’m never going to wear non-underwire bras. No one needs to see what happens when gravity takes over”. sigh. The 20-something version of me was so incredibly misguided and foolish.

The late 30-something version of me doesn’t get a f*** about gravity and has realized that underwire bras are sh**, especially because modern bra technology has evolved such that wires are now largely unnecessary, even if you’re generously proportioned.*

*If you’re engaging in high impact activity, please use the appropriate sports bras.

So this quarantine season, I decided to experiment with some brands that were helpfully advertised to me over Instagram, and here are the best wire-free bras I’ve found that are the holy grail of supportive and comfortable.

Uniqlo Beauty Soft WIreless Bra: These go up to a 38DD and at under $25 are an absolute steal! Hold up well to washing, would definitely buy again.

Spanx Spotlight on Lace Bralette: These are a prettier bra compared to the Uniqlo and offer more sizes (up to 36 H and 42DD) and also offer the option to cross the straps in the back. They also hold up well, and while they’re not as soft as the Uniqlo ones, they are still quite comfortable. These are usually $48 but currently on sale at $34 (as of 4/12/2020).

True Body LIft: These are my absolute FAVORITE no-wire bras, but at $64 each they are also the most expensive. The True Body collection offers even more size options than Spanx going up to a 42DD/E or 44 DDD/F. Expensive and worth it.

Lively All Day Deep V No Wire: Described as the Warby Parker of bras, Lively offers you bundle pricing where you can get 2 bras for $60 or 3 bras for $80, which is a really great price. The All Day Deep V No Wires have the most structure of any of the ones I tested but also have the least give around the band, so if you’re having a super bloated day, these will get uncomfortable if you try to wear them all day. The brand goes up to a 44DDD or a 46DD, although this particular bra only goes up to the 38DD.

So during this Coronavirus quarantine, I’ve learned that there’s absolutely no reason to sacrifice comfort whether you’re staying home or not. See, there are some good things to come out of this!
